Formed in 1974 in New York, The Ramones are regarded by many as the first punk band. Like fellow punks, The Sex Pistols and The Clash, the band has been inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and their name features of many ‘best band’ lists. Despite their popularity and status today, as well as touring for almost 22 years, they achieved only limited commercial success during their active years and were regarded largely as a cult band. The Ramones is one of the US punk bands that had a great impact in the punk rock music scene. They originated in Forest Hills, New York in 1974.
The members of the band are: Johnny Ramone, Joey Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, Marky Ramone, Tommy Ramone, CJ Ramone, Elvis Ramone and Ritchie Ramone. All members, although not a real Ramone, took the surname as their screen name. [Read more...]
