To some they are the squalling brats responsible for a hundred terrible copy-cat bands who think they too can get rich and famous by playing badly and lacking a certain sartorial elegance.  To others they are sell-outs – the public face of punk equipped with a record deal, but no ethics.  To many they are heroes; the ordinary kids who were brave enough to say and do exactly what they wanted, even if that was just swearing at an old man on a polite television programme.  But whatever your opinion, you know The Sex Pistols.  They are one of the most famous punk bands that have ever existed and in fact, their name is so synonymous with the genre that it’s hard to picture what punk would have been like without them.  And that’s the stuff that legends are made of.
